My Rocking Audio Section...

To all who haven't perused my audio section:

Peruse my audio section.

It has songs Jer and I recorded like 8 years ago in LA. Me on git, Jer on vocals. It might be because I've had a whiskey or two tonight, but the songs are friggin' hysterical to me. Jer is a gifted lyricist and has a fine falsetto...

The songs are wmv files, and I got some odd popup saying file extension didn't match type, but click yes and they play fine...I'll get them up as mp3's soon. I know you're dying to get them...

ho hum...

Do-nothing Saturday log...or at least only stuff that counts as good nothing
  • I made some vegetable stew, like what I made last weekend to bring to Liz's for Mother's Day (one key is to sautee the fennel in a separate pan, and get it real soft and caramelized, then deglaze with the stew and toss back into the stew pot...the other key-from my Dad-is to let the tomato paste almost burn to the bottom of the pot before putting in any broth.)
  • Fixed my site so it works on IE, which it hadn't been, unbeknownst to me, because I'm so fucking cool I don't use IE.
  • Andrea fed the cats and tasted the cat food...ewwwwwww.
  • I will post pictures if she grows cat whiskers (dig the rhyme)
  • Also, I bitched at Andrea because she ate all the crust (as in surgically removed it all with a knife) off a loaf of bread (big gourmet boule kind of bread), leaving just a big white doughy ball. She felt guilty and went out and bought like 10 kinds of bread. I had gone out and bought some hummus (the yummy Sabra spicy kind) and was totally fantasizing about dipping a piece of crusty bread into it, so when I came back and discovered the doughy crumb, I was all like WTF. I've totes been reading too many blogs.
  • Funny blogs that you should read: Dooce and Youcantmakeitup.
OK, bye...

Clouds 'n stuff...

Totally nice day out today...was in the park, took some cloud pix...I couldn't figure out which one to put up, so I put both...

Good Interview...

...with an artist named Roni Horn. I was poking around online looking at photography stuff, and came across an interview from about 10 years ago. My favorite quotes from it below:

"There is always the experience that what you cannot see deeply affects what you can see."

"Making Being Here Enough is just that. I don't mean it in the sense of dismissing the past and the future, but in taking what is here/now actively. It's like you're eating it. You are taking it in."

"The issue of whether or not I am a woman artist is the problem of the questioner--it's not my problem. But who would want to be an adjective. If you can be a noun, be it."

My goofy fiancee...

My sister sent a mini veil to Andrea...so nice. Andrea is a goofball.

I walked around Ft. Tryon park today...

...and took a bunch of boring pictures.

It's really hard to take pictures that want to be looked at for more than 1/4 of a second...so this should take less than one second...

Visit...

Went to my Dad's house today to pick up my bike (5-boro tour tomorrow), then stopped by my sister's house, where my Mom and Skip were babysitting Alev and Zach. Zach is growing so fast, and Alev is perfecting the "helllooooooo??" tone of voice. Then Alev got upset that Zach broke her Chinese yoyo, so she was a bit mopey near bedtime (the last picture, so cute...), so we let her stay up with the grownups and eat pizza...

I suppose I shouldn't be too harsh...

...in the post below. I mean if the guy's primordial urge-when piloted by his deep subconscious-is to cast his lot as a congressman, its not like he can be a complete lout. I think.

I've read that a lot of people eat during Ambien trips. I probably would too, or hump my pillows or something...(that's the raciest thing i've ever written on this blog...oh my god.)

Must...vote...must...vote

From the NYT...nice...

WASHINGTON, May 4 Representative Patrick J. Kennedy crashed his car into a traffic barrier on Capitol Hill in the early morning hours on Thursday. He said he was apparently disoriented because he had been taking Ambien, the sleeping pill, and another medication.

Mr. Kennedy, a Rhode Island Democrat, said he drove to the Capitol at about 2:45 a.m. in the mistaken belief that he needed to vote. The House was not in session, having adjourned at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday.

I'm more Evil than Good...

...at least according to this site. I saw it on my Uncle Dann's blog. Apparently, he is more "good" than I am, which stands to reason, given that he's a man of the cloth.

Seeking Sanity...

...that's the name of one of the wireless networks within range in our living room. Don't know whose it is, presumably its in this building. I wonder if the person who named this network lives alone, or if it was a couple, or a family. I know its probably just a flustered New Yorker, just thought it was kind of funnily neurotic...and its unsecured, not what you'd think.

Spring is springin' in Ft. Tryon...
