Interesting...
court case in NY brought by the subject of this photo:
who claimed that the photographer Philip-Lorca Dicorcia had no right to make the photograph, or do anything else with it for that matter. Photog won the case, ruling being that even if artist makes money off of "art," its still "art," and he is protected by the first amendment.
interesting...
it is a very nice portrait.

So I got a hit from Nam today...
must have been someone from Jer's site. I figure it would be fun to get hits from completely random countries. So here's the deal. All of you 4 regular readers of my site give the name of the most obscure country you can think of, and my mission will be to get a hit from that country. First come first served...

I want to see what this does to the Google ads...
Bush is a liar and a war monger! I love chess! My cats purr!
Hey all...
Leave a comment if you DON'T see the google ads in the right sidebar. On some small monitors I think they get pushed to the bottom of the page due to my inability to lay out a web page properly.
I doubt they will be there for long. This site gets about 10 hits a day, mostly from immediate family and friends, maybe one or two from the random person I encounter playing chess online or a random Google search, which is fine.
I did get a hit from Iceland (viewed a picture of Andrea picking her nose) and a few through Jer's site, where I have my address on my profile...
So I'd need years to get any money out of Google.
All for now...go dems! Don't blow it.

I know it's annoying...
...but I want to try the Google ad thing for a week or so to see what happens...click on it. I might make like a penny or two.

From article in NYT about a US medic in Iraq...
In one course, an advanced trauma treatment program he had taken before deploying, he said, the instructors gave each corpsman an anesthetized pig.
“The idea is to work with live tissue,” he said. “You get a pig and you keep it alive. And every time I did something to help him, they would wound him again. So you see what shock does, and what happens when more wounds are received by a wounded creature.”
“My pig?” he said. “They shot him twice in the face with a 9-millimeter pistol, and then six times with an AK-47 and then twice with a 12-gauge shotgun. And then he was set on fire.”
“I kept him alive for 15 hours,” he said. “That was my pig.”
